Key Topics

Europe has set itself goals for sustainable future. One of them is creating an efficient clean energy system that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and stop the global warming. We are noticing the dynamic growth of renewable energy replacing fossil fuels sources and nuclear plants. This trend brings us many advantages but also challenges. The supply of energy from renewable sources is intermittent and requires a solution to meet demand in particular stages. The solutions is Power to Gas technology. Converting surplus energy to hydrogen or in further stage methane, enables storing high energy capacities for long time in well developed gas infrastructure. Apart from that P2G provides flexibility as the gas can be converted back not only to electricity but also used for mobility sector, heat production and as a chemical feedstock for various industries.

Power2Gas Conference, taking place on 17-18 October 2018 in Copenhagen, will bring together major stakeholders from the industry to explore the latest developments related to this technology. Copenhagen is a frontrunner in renewable energy and aims to become 100% carbon neutral by 2025, which makes it a perfect location for our conference. We invite you to join your peers for 2 days of interactive presentations and networking sessions in order to build a decarbonized society with P2G.

The site visit is free of charge but spaces are limited and booked on first-come, first-served basis.
Please contact us on registration@cogitongroup.com to book your space for the tour.
You can be put on a waiting list after registration and we can allocate a space in case of vacancy.

On 16th October our participants will have a chance to visit the the world’s biggest biomethanation plant: The 1 MWe BioCat plant located at the Biogas Park Avedore, near Copenhagen
The plant is maintained and operated by Electrochaea. It was built during the BioCat Project (www.biocat-project.com) and has been running successfully since April 2016.
Electrochaea has developed a commercially viable and disruptive solution for utility-scale energy storage, grid balancing, and carbon reuse. The company’s proprietary process converts low-cost and stranded electricity and carbon dioxide into pipeline-grade renewable gas for direct injection into the existing natural gas grid, a conversion process known as “power-to-gas”. The core of Electrochaea’s power-to-gas system is a selectively evolved microorganism — a methanogenic archaea —  that excels through unprecedented catalytic ability and industrial robustness. The technical advantages of this biocatalyst enable the company’s patented BioCat methanation technology to operate at lower capital and operating costs and with greater flexibility than conventional thermochemical methanation processes.
Site visit schedule:

11:50 — meeting and registration at Crowne Plaza lobby
12:30 — departure from the hotel
12:45 — arrival to BioCat plant, start of the tour
14:15 — end of the tour
